Wondering About God?

Wondering About God?

Welcome to the Shepherd's House!

The most precious gift God has given us is His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. This Love of God, wrapped in the glory and sacrifice of His Son and delivered by the power and ministry of His Holy Spirit, is a treasured gift - the gift that keeps on giving, because the Giver it reveals is inexhaustible in His love and grace.

The Bible - the Word of the Lord - shows us that the commitment that God is looking for from humankind is NOT to escape this life but to know God's power and presence in this life, which could transform both our lives and our community. For the Lord Jesus Christ is the descent of God into the middle of our muddled lives, just as they are, not the ascent of our lives to God, hoping that he might approve when He sees how hard we try. God's involvement in our lives is not limited to history. Unfortunately, the history of the Church reveals to us that when Christians become fixated about finding God in the "next" world to come, they often miss finding the God of earth and history, the Lord God of the Universe, in the here and now - in our soiled ordinariness.

God is NOT mad at you. He longs for you to come to Him so that He can bless you with His goodness - grace and peace!

The New Testament reveals that God continues to be involved in our lives; the Holy Spirit lives in the renewed personality of the one who chooses to trust Jesus Christ. Many Christians fail to grasp God's total involvement with us. In and through Jesus Christ, we are never alone; never cut off from God's presence! What a vital reality to see! In every time of personal need, whether for mercy (because we have failed), or for grace to help (when we are challenged beyond our abilities), we have the fullness of God Himself to help us. In the person of the Holy Spirit, God continues to reach gently into the middle of our muddle. The Apostle Paul, caught by the wonder of it all, praised God in Ephesians 3:20-21:"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen!"

And so, join us at the Shepherd's House, as we open up to God's love, and join our hearts and hands in worshipful dependence upon the only One who is able to save, sanctify, heal and prosper us by the power of His Spirit!
